With an array of attractions, Wytheville offers small town charm with a wider variety of experiences than visitors may expect.
Take a leisurely drive on Big Walker Mountain National Forest Scenic Byway, a 16-mile route boasting beautiful mountain scenery in any season. Along the way, stop at Big Walker Lookout & Country Store and climb a 100-foot tower to enjoy the views or shop for locally-made arts and crafts.
History buffs should begin at Wytheville’s Heritage Preservation Center with tours of the Haller-Gibboney Rock House and Thomas J. Boyd Museums. The Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace, located downstairs from the home of this early 20th-century First Lady, chronicles aspects of her family’s history and her later public life.
If you’d just like to wander and enjoy the glorious spring weather, you’ll love Beagle Ridge Herb Farm. It’s a 160-acre wooded retreat with over four miles of nature trails, as well as display gardens and seasonal events. Pleasant Hill Farm’s Field of Flowers offers over 50 flower beds for a “cut-your-own” experience in a farm setting, with weekend music jams on the grounds.

Located on a fourth generation homestead, West Wind Farm Vineyard Winery offers handcrafted Virginia wine with daily tasting and tours. Rural Retreat Winery & Dye Vineyards has a wide selection of wines and showcases regional arts and crafts.
For evening entertainment, don’t miss the latest production at Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre. Presenting “All Musicals, All the Time”, this venue offers evening and matinée performances in a German village architectural setting.
