What Our Readers Are Saying

We find the Shenandoah Valley Guide to be very helpful in promoting our local area of the Shenandoah Valley, the "Eastern Panhandle" of West Virginia. It is informative, and it gives a good description of our Civil War and other historical sites. Dining facilities and an exit guide are an added 'plus' for tourists unfamiliar with the area. It is very colorful and easy to read.

It is a pleasure to read this magazine and have it as a tool to work with in tourism.

I have picked up your magazine recently and I find it to be a nice layout. It is nice to see the area of West Virginia being picked up to be included back into our beautiful Valley. Many magazines act like Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan counties do not exist or that we are not a part of the Valley. ... I like your magazine because you recognize that we are part of the family.

I recently stayed at The Homestead, which I'd found after reading an article about spas in the Shenandoah Valley Guide. My stay there lived up to my expectations, and the article's information helped me decide on the services I wanted to use. I'm now planning to re-visit The Homestead with my husband for our anniversary, and we are both looking forward to sharing a spa retreat—all because of your article!

Early last month my wife and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary and decided that we wanted to 'get out of town', if only for a couple of days. After some deliberation, we recalled that we had always wanted to stop at the Hotel Strasburg if only to have a meal there. It never seemed to work out in the past, so we decided to make that our anniversary destination. The Internet only provided some sketchy information, so I decided to check the Visitors Center here in Lexington, where I discovered your publication, the Shenandoah Valley Guide. How fortuitous for us, since it contained detailed information on the Strasburg area, as well as an attractive advertisement for the Hotel Strasburg! I was even more delighted to discover that the hotel offered a 25% discount on lodging, with the mention of the ad in your guide. Since we had invited three other couples to join us for the anniversary, the discount was most compelling to say the least!

We had a marvelous time at the Hotel Strasburg and the antique malls in town. There's never much more to do than eat, drink, and shop when you have an anniversary in the middle of winter, I'm afraid. The rooms at the Hotel Strasburg are as unique and stylishly furnished as you reported. The service throughout our stay was the finest, and the food as delicious as anyone could wish. All in all, my wife and I and our six guests had a thoroughly enjoyable celebration of an important date in our lives.

Your Guide is now our primary reference whenever we travel in and around the Valley. We have copies in both of our cars and one in the house. Our guests are doing the same thing. As a matter of fact, three copies of the most recent guide release are in place with us right now. Many thanks and keep up the fine work.
