Strasburg, Woodstock, and Edinburg Tourism Information
Wine, music, festivals, food, and Civil War reenactments... in the northern Shenandoah Valley, they've got them all, to keep you entertained and your palate pleased in the coming months.
Let's start at scenic small town of Woodstock. At the Woodstock Café, they feature live music and wine tastings every Saturday afternoon, in addition to great coffee, delicious food, and unique gifts.
Next, head over to Mount Jackson. You can't miss the townbe on the lookout for their water tower, which is decorated with apples! On October 13-14, the town hosts its Apple-Grape Harvest Festival. The quaint town will come alive with great food, arts and crafts, music, and fun for families.
Now that you're amply in the mood for fall, head a few miles north to the town of Strasburg. The town is home to Virginia's first-documented cave, Crystal Caverns. And if caves aren’t scary enough on their own, how about touring a haunted one by candlelight?
Be sure to check out a great wine shop, Shenandoah Style, in the corner suite of the Strasburg Emporium, offering wines from more than 18 Virginia wineries.
While in Strasburg, you'll surely need to eat. Rancho Viejo serves up tasty, authentic Mexican cuisine, while Hi-Neighbor features homestyle country cooking. For fine dining, though, the Old Mill is the perfect choice, with great food, in a truly magnificent, unusual setting.
A little further north you'll find the town of Middletown. We promised Civil War reenactments, didn't we? In Middletown you'll find one of the best aroundit’s the anniversary reenactment of the Battle at Cedar Creek, at Belle Grove Plantation. It's a big, weekend-long event that's sure to please any Civil War buff.
And as for the wine... Edinburg is home to Shenandoah Vineyards, part of the Shenandoah Valley Wine Trail. The wine trail will be hosting a Deck the Halls weekend December 1-2. Receive a wreath at your assigned starting winery, and pick up a different holiday ornament at each of the participating venues. What a unique way to experience the wine country!
And if you stop by nowhere else... you have to visit Rt. 11 Potato Chips in Middletown. These are absolutely the best chips you'll ever tasteand with flavors like sour cream and chive to a fall favoritea cinnamon sweet potato 'dessert chip'you won’t be disappointed!
