The mountains of southwestern Virginia echo with musicplaintive, raucous, hauntingly beautiful, or just plain fun. From foot-stomping bluegrass to a capella ballads, from fiddles and banjos to hammered dulcimer, there are stories to be told in these hills.

A music trail, The Crooked RoadVirginia's Heritage Music Trail, winds its way through the area, from Rocky Mount to Floyd, to Galax, Bristol, Hiltons, Wise, and Clintwood, with venues and events like no other.
The roots of blues, jazz, and country are all deep in the Virginia hills. Come south and experience where they all began. Take in the music, but also take time to enjoy the friendly people, the arts and crafts, food, hiking, and jaw-dropping scenery.
